Following a study by the Chartered Institute of Building in 2007, a team of international experts worked together to create the Guide to the Management of Time in Complex Projects.

The Guide took around eighteen months to complete and was published in 2010. It provides  the process and standards for preparing and managing the time model. As a handbook for practitioners it uses logical step by step procedures and examples from inception, through design and construction to testing and commissioning, to show how an effective and dynamic time model can be used to manage the risk of delay to completion of construction projects.

The next stage was to create a practitioner qualification – more information on this here.

Finally, a standard form of contract to help manage the risks of delay and disruption in construction projects is needed. This will be release in April 2013. More information on this is also available here.
